The Hurting Strings, an award-winning documentary was created by Australian filmmaker Peter Lamont in 2014 and has had thousands of views resonating with so many people living with invisible illness. It is a little sad that the film still has so much meaning, in fact, it's still relevant so many years later. I truly wish it wasn't.

The New Happy

There are many motivational accounts on social media, but one of My Health Story’s (MHS) faves is The New Happy. And that’s because of its brightness and colourful and uplifting graphics and messages. And it’s free. The New Happy also provides small bite-size doses, which are more manageable for people with chronic illnesses who might experience brain fog and other symptoms that make absorbing information tricky.  In addition to limiting the communications received on a day-to-day basis (actually, [...]

Painaustralia, Our Newest Friend

2023-08-03T14:23:05+10:00August 3, 2023|Blog, Friends of MHS|

We love the saying, ‘It takes a village’. And although it relates to raising children, the belief that an entire community must provide for and interact positively to manage something important and achieve greatness resonates perfectly with the Friends of My Health Story (MHS). With this positive statement, we welcome Painaustralia as our newest MHS Friend. Living with a chronic illness can make it challenging to access the right healthcare team and resources. Even harder is addressing the [...]

A few months ago and just appointed as CEO of Painaustralia, I was chatting to Giulia, who was making time to connect with people living with pain; our next step would be an interview for some media. Instead, I received an awful message.  Giulia is a tough cookie, watch our chat and feel that fire in her! And she’ll be using that fire to put this awful experience to great use – raising funds for So Brave and Painaustralia as she shaves her hair on 31 July. I want us all to get behind her.
