As My Health Story (MHS) knows, one of the biggest challenges for people living with chronic pain is receiving validation. Finding a diagnosis and, once that occurs, being taken seriously and provided adequate support.

MHS is happy to introduce an additional partner within the chronic disease world, Jaspen. Jaspen believe that data can attract the right medical team and access the appropriate care. And data communicated from the hands of its owner can empower people to feel in control and make choices for their individual needs.

Doesn’t MHS know it?!

Jaspen loves how My Health Story provides an easy-to-use way to keep track of symptoms, have discussions with medical practitioners, provide insights into an individual’s health scenario and help them manage their conditions.

Jaspen’s strength is its centralised platform that helps people living with chronic pain find the appropriate tools and strategies to manage their condition. Jaspen sources high-quality tools like My Health Story and recommends them to its members.

More about Jaspen

Vision: To prevent chronic pain and support the 1 in 5 people who live with it, no matter where they are in their journey.

Mission: We are on a mission to radically transform how people live with chronic pain. Jaspen is a social platform that provides a safe, supportive and empowering space for members to connect and learn from each other. We are building a thriving global community of 1 million members.

Tagline: Your Ally in Chronic Pain

The Jaspen community connects people with chronic pain to others with similar experiences, offering peer-led, evidence-based information and support.

It aims to empower its members and shape healthcare innovation through data collection and elevating their voices.

“Jaspen is focusing on veterans living with chronic pain. Veterans have the highest rates of chronic pain out of all groups. Backed by an international award – a Churchill Fellowship, Jaspen’s Founder will undertake an eight-week research trip in 2023 to explore this topic. Jaspen intends to become the go-to-platform for veterans transitioning out of the military.

Jaspen is building a platform that draws on a combination of storytelling, AI, decentralisation, blockchain technology and art to empower members. Jaspen is focused on a community model, placing people living with chronic pain ‘centre stage’. The member-centric approach allows for the development of the platform to be guided by the experts in chronic pain, those who live with the condition”.

About Jaspen founder, Nerita Lewis

‘When I reflect on what I’ve been through, I see that I came out the other side of my struggles and now have a good quality of life. For years I didn’t because I had little to no access to support, information or education. Finding what worked for me cost a lot of money (thousands) and time. I lost years of my life because I was given the wrong information and didn’t have adequate support.’

‘My experiences are the driving force behind this platform. I can help empower those living with pain to be informed and make the best decisions for their unique journeys. There is a huge opportunity to empower people living with chronic pain. To not just survive each day, but thrive. This looks different for everyone: maybe it’s reducing, changing or ceasing medications, returning to work, or getting back to the gym. Every person deserves the opportunity to be educated, supported and empowered.’

‘It’s time for the narrative to shift and for stigma and shame to be reduced and eventually eliminated. People with pain deserve to be treated with respect, empathy and validation.

‘One of Jaspen’s values is ‘Living experts in pain’ ™; words are a powerful way to shift the narrative and the power imbalance.’

LIVING EXPERTS IN PAIN™️

— The people living with pain are the living experts.
— We rely on the living experts to shape everything that we do.
— We don’t use the word ‘patients’ here.
— Look up the word ‘patients’ and you’ll find: invalid, victim, sufferer, inmate. We’re sure many people have felt or been treated this way.
— People living with pain are strong humans. We’re flipping the narrative: empowered, strong, courageous, brave and capable.
