There’s a lot not to like about 2021, but the team at PainTrain MHS are focused on progress, growth and living and learning. That means we look at the takeaways of experiences past to direct us on the way forward.
There is much to look forward to – expectations of better healthcare are high. That’s very much due to the recent announcement that Telehealth is here to stay.
Of course, every person living with a chronic illness or disability could have asserted Telehealth’s importance on healthcare – it should not have taken a pandemic to get us here. But we are here now, so let’s fly with it!
After reviving and refreshing our interface in 2020, many updates and new features have been incorporated into PainTrain MHS this year.
We found a fantastic new development team with much experience in health resources and who seem to truly understand PainTrain MHS’s vision and care very much about the user experience.
But we know we have a long way to go. The development phases are ongoing, and of course, the overhanging decision of creating an App version of PainTrainMHS is ever-present (we’d love your thoughts on that – yes/no?).
There was an interface update for ease of use for small screens / hand-held devices, and most recently (this week, in fact), the functionality of ‘tags’ and ‘terms’ was introduced to the Characteristics section.
The aim of the click-and-select descriptor was to provide a way to make a more straightforward health summary. Some of you told us you didn’t want to get too wordy in your health explanations. On the other hand, some users also wanted to create a health summary more quickly.

In addition to the reasons you gave us for this new tag and term feature was also the vital educational side.
The tags and terms present a clearer understanding of a person’s health experience and encourage discussion. By displaying tags and terms that are not only accurate and in ‘medical lingo’, a person’s health experience also becomes easier to understand and ongoing appointments will be far easier and more valuable.

Growth
PainTrain MHS is still regarded as a start-up and is predominately funded personally by founder Soula Mantalvanos and husband, Theo. However, the growth of the resource is more due to the dedicated Advisory Group, who are always on hand to share their valuable experience and input.
For PainTrain MHS, 2021 ends on a high note. With Telehealth giving both practitioners and people the confidence to ‘get digital’ with healthcare, novel resources focused on communicating the personal experience and enhancing the quality of care can only expect to thrive heading into 2022.
