My Health Story official public media release information
My Health Story was originally founded as PainTrain – My Health Summary by Soula Mantalvanos after she developed chronic pain following an accident.
My Health Story is an engaging, safe and innovative way for patients to generate and store their personal health experience.
‘I want to empower people facing ongoing health issues. Understanding a personal experience is key to receiving the best quality of care. Having to repeat a long history is also distressing.’ she said.
Soula decided to expand the initial novel idea from being solely focused on pain management realising it could also help people living with other chronic health conditions like Stroke, Dementia and also Aged Care.
Why My Health Story?
My Health Story is a fully functioning website and App that communicates the unique lived experience. It empowers the patient so they can take a more holistic approach to their care. It also works as an asset to time-poor practitioners, presenting them with an effective way to tailor care to the individual’s experience.
‘My Health Story is a source of empowerment for patients who can have all their information on hand, and it also provides a way for the patient to tell their story without the added distress of having to repeat themselves.’– Dr Nick Christelis Director, Pain Specialist Australia
Privacy
The information stored on My Health Story remains owned by the patient, and the patient remains in total control of the sharing options.
Motivated by personal experience, founder Soula Mantalvanos developed My Health Story to address a large area of unmet needs; communication between those affected by ongoing illness and their health practitioners with social, educational, and employment economic implications in Australia and throughout the world.
Dr Susan Evans Chair, Pelvic Pain Foundation of Australia notes that
‘At the Pelvic Pain Foundation of Australia, we recognise the need for innovation in this area. We strongly support My Health Story as an important step forward with international potential. My Health Story is easy to understand and provides a brief, to-the-point summary for time-poor health practitioners.’
